Wedding photography

I love photographing love and all that encompasses it. So to be asked to photograph this very special moment, by someone who clearly planned and wanted to make a special moment very memorable was an honour. We exchanged emails and the details and timings of this event were shared with me. Kyoto park is a pretty (and busy) little Japenese garden in Holland Park London. Full of peacocks, squirrels and lots of vibrant plants.  It was essential that I go un-noticed, this was a challenge, I picked a position and read a paper, whilst prentending to be interested in the other things happening in the park, not the real reason I had been booked to be there!  The photos were a big surprise, and Jess did not twig that Raj had arranged for me to be there. After she said YES!! I watched them take iphone photos of each other and offered to take their snap and email to them. (the last few photos on this blog post) Raj and Jess, I wish you both every happiness.

Steph and Benni travelled to Great Gransden, a little village in Cambrdigeshire for their German legal wedding blessing. Steph had grown up here and it was significant to return to the church where she had been christened and gone to Sunday school. It was a very small group of family who still live in the UK and some who, like the couple made the journey from Germany for this ceremony. The blessing was lovely and afterwards followed an afternoon tea. Their gorgeous dog Duri also came with them for the Wedding and features in the photos. I had a Skype meeting with them a few months leading up to this day and we had chance to meet briefly when they arrived in England. I loved being part of their small intimate day, everyone was so friendly, it proves that big or small, the reason for marrying is clear and that and the unity is what I enjoy photographing. Steph wore an elegant linen dress with sweet red, pink and cream roses and bright green chrysanthemums. A matching coloured braided ribbon band in her hair and flowers tucked into her boots. They photos are simply touching moments of love and happiness.  I understood how they longed for photos in great weather of the beautiful English countryside and I'm so happy they chose me to be the one to give them this. Congratulations to you both, this was a memorable day for me as well as you.

Fiona and Paul chose Shortmead House in Bedfordshire for their Wedding Celebration party. Fiona looked amazing in a proper vintage, very special, 1970 wedding dress, it was her mother's dress for her wedding day. They had already had the legal bit of their wedding in St Lucia but wanted to celebrate and share their day with all their family and friends. There were lots of games to play, a pool, a great children's entertainer, a beautiful pretty marquee with pink and green details, hand stamped doilies for name places and lots of gorgeous pink hydrangas. Their two adorable children, Freya and Harrison also enjoyed the party and seeing all their family who had come such a long way. With Fiona being Scottish, little Harrison donned a sweet little kilt with converse shoes for the occasion! They had a relaxed and lovely celebration. When it got dark, I entertained children and adults that wanted to join in, on some fun light painting that they did themselves. Big congratulations to Fiona and Paul, it was amazing to share your lovely day.

Fiona looked stunning in the dress her mother wore, such a lovely and special thing to do, and it fitted perfectly, no alterations needed!

The speeches were funny, moving, heartbreaking and heartfelt. Various points in the day we remember those who we would have love to have been present, but speeches are a time when things everyone is feeling are mentioned and remembered. Fiona and her brother gave lovely speeches in addition to Paul and the best man. I cried behind my camera but carried on capturing these precious moments.
