Things I like
Someone recently told me how much they loved this self portrait, I took it one morning when I saw some gentle light cast on the floor of this room. The image encapsulates for me the escapism of self portraiture, the lost-in-the-moment feel... the warm softness of the fleecy blanket, the vunerability. Clearly I should be drying hair, getting dressed, or something pressing, yet the moment was stolen and a photo made, a memory captured. I remember that moment well, any photo you take, if it has emotion in it, will transport you back to that time, those feelings, those reasons. It's not just about a photo of me on the floor in a blanket, you can decide what you see here, am I revealing or concealing? Thinking or dreaming? Really only I will know the answer to that. Who am I really, and whats inside my head? If you actually know me, you will read the list of things I like and know some of them already. For those who don't...these things make me tick.

Friday, 27 April 2012Sleeping during the day when you shouldn't be... that dark grey cloud that covers the sky and makes everything else lovely and bright... raspberry jam with seeds... being silly with the one you love... clean crisp linen at home or in a hotel... seeing your child laugh and smile when you make a joke instead of them being embarrassed... the feel of summer rain soaking clothes... finding your soulmate.... singing out of tune in the car when no-one else is there...

....waking up to the sun coming in through the curtains, almond croissants and lattes at caffe neros, the thrill of buying something online, afternoon tea at Halseys, the smell after it rains, wearing high heels, not being able to stop laughing, when all your friends and you are insanely happy, watching ballets, talking to random people, making new friends. My list. -

I like this! Lists of things people like, makes me happy. This and flirting, crosswords, the smell of rain on warm tarmac, art that stops time when you see it, giving really good presents that you know someone is going to love, getting back into bed after a morning shower, baking while listening to Einaudi, being up for sunrise, new socks, girls dressed in vintage clothes (actually, boys too), earl grey tea in the afternoon...
